WAITINGROOM OASIS

LEUKEMIA DEPARTMENT AT "RIGSHOSPITALET"

A collaboration project with Anouk Oosterbaan, Christian Lindkvist, Miamaja Olsson and “Rigshospitalet” in Copenhagen. The design question was to reinvent the existing waiting room for leukemia patients. The diverse group of patients wanted a place to feel comfortable during the long days of treatments.

Searching for social and private areas through transparency and translucency was our main inspiration. The result is one flowing movement with different zones. On one side, the patient sees a more open space to socialize, chat or have a coffee and is more inviting to the treatment rooms. On the other side it feels more private, here you can relax an and escape the hospital environment. It was a search to make the patients feel at ease during hospital visits.
